Higher Education
West Nottinghamshire College serves the people of Mansfield and surrounding areas in providing first class Further and Higher Education, as well as training. The college has a vast range of courses for school leavers, young employees and adults looking to retrain, in a variety of convenient locations.
It also offers a well developed package of training, facilities and services to industry and commerce.
School leavers will find a wide choice of full-time programmes in many subject areas, plus the opportunity to access a degree course, right through to a Higher National Diploma and also the chance to access a degree course in association with the Nottingham Trent University.
The University Centre of Mansfield (UCM), on the college’s Derby Road site, is currently providing exciting learning opportunities for local people and members of the business community.
They offer short courses, part-time higher education programmes, advice and consultancy with a focus on skills. There are three main target audiences which should find the UCM’s facilities attractive. Professional people can benefit from a wide range of courses, either single or long term.
UCM will be able to provide Higher Education learning opportunities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This will be a unique opportunity in Mansfield and its surrounding areas, for people to achieve degrees locally for the very first time.
The second focus is the provision of Adult Education Courses, based around Information Technology. These include such subjects as Computer Basics, Computing for the Retired, an introduction to the Internet and creating pages for the World Wide Web.
Thirdly, UCM is aiming its facilities at local organisations and businesses, offering bespoke learning and training programmes for management and staff.
